2011, the only year you could buy a Series 3 Elise in North America

Sure, 2011 brought about the third-gen Lotus Elise, though that was also the same year that the NHTSA’s waiver that exempted Lotus from having to equip the Elise with a smart airbag expired.

That doesn’t mean we didn’t get any of these cars, though, as the Series 3 Elise was available in North America, but only for the 2011 model year.

Three models were offered, the naturally aspirated Elise R, the supercharged Elise SC and the unique Roger Beker special edition–built to celebrate the engineer’s 44 years of service at Lotus.
