I know I know.. GRM is the greatest thing since sliced bread.. but sometimes you need to go to the folks who know the individual cars and models inside and out.

So... I need a good forum to join for any and all help I might need with my new 850.

Thanks!

volvospeed has lots of bad info and is very poorly moderated, that said- this archive is helpful and over the years the useful threads have piled up if you search for particular subjects.

The IPD forums are pretty good and also SwedeSpeed if it's still in existence. TurboBricks is addictive: solely responsible for me building a ridiculous 300+ high-boost 745Ti wagon that used to spank Camaros and Mustangs on Track Days.

1985 4 speed manual + push-button Overdrive 745Ti Wagon with the intercooled 2.3 liter red block 230FT engine. I had Craig Hansen of Craig Hansen's Racing in Chico totally blueprint, balance and port the head and bottom-end. Subtle cam to work with a bigger Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo. Opened up the intake, exhaust and downpipes: used a hilarious FlowMaster Muffler that made it sound like a drag car. Craig used to work with Keith Duckworth and Frank Costin before they even created Cosworth. He now specializes in restoring old racing motorcycles. He created a suspension, including balancing front & rear weight, crafted a special Panhard Rod, worked up a little aero including a splitter on the front. We stiffened the chassis just a bit with weld-in bars on the bottom like you do with Fox body Mustangs. It was a fun car and it ran well but I finally sold it to an old friend who tracked it also. Gradually it fell into disrepair, but I think a fellow in LA has it now. I liked it just because it was such a goof: fast, sturdy, a grocery-getter spitting flames on corner entry and jamming 120 MPH down the front straight at ThunderHill. That's slow NOW, but was pretty quick in 1995. A huge amount of the build was from discussions on TurboBricks, a great Forum.

I've gotten great help for my 850 wagon from both Volvospeed and Matthews' Volvo. Can't comment on the moderating of Volvospeed as I don't spend much time there...just grab what I need.

I checked this out and felt like Obama at a republican convention.
