Why did Subaru show a first-gen Forester at the New York Auto Show?

My Cavalier was also almost indestructible as well, no matter what I did to it. I finally traded it in on our Fiat with 200,000 + miles on it. It was still running fine despite being neglected, and at one point floating in water from hurricane sandy, which probably accelerated the floorpan rust, but was impressively unstoppable.
