A Ford with a 1.6-liter turbo-four and six-speed manual? That's right, we're talking about a Ford Fusion.

Sure, the 1.6 turbo In the Fusion makes a little less power than the Fiesta ST–182 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque vs. 197 horsepower and 202 lb.-ft. of torque–but when’s the last time you saw (or even knew of) a second-gen Fusion …

It's nice to see a bigger car with a stick.

Given the weight difference between the fusion and fiesta, well....  My last work lease car was a 1.5T fusion, and it was not fast at all.

I owned a fiesta st for almost a decade and during that time had a fusion hybrid rental car for about a month. The fusion is honestly a pretty decent car for what it is and the hybrid drivetrain was actually pretty decent, but the overall driving experience isn't even in the same zip code as the st. A bit more power and a manual would help but it's still a much larger, softer car with steering and suspension tuned for normal people. It's just not comparable in the same way that even a non-st fiesta isn't really comparable other than being the same size.

Yeah, it's a pretty hefty difference - like 1000 pounds. I wonder how much transfers from the Police Interceptor to this Ford Fusion. Is that the magic ticket for a stick-shift Interceptor?

There was a Fusion Sport that was called a poor man's S4 by some. AWD, 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, sports suspension, but automatic only.  Perhaps there are parts that would easily swap over from the FoMoCo performance catalog to spice up the lower trim Fusions?

In reply to J.A. Ackley :

The 2.0T matches a lot better for fun driving.   Actually, we get better freeway mileage with a 2.0T Escape than the 1.5 T fusion. Odd.

I recall looking at fiesta ST mods and seeing that 300 hp was not that hard to achieve, Im sure similar mods could be applied to the fusion.

Quick reminder that S550 subframes bolt up to the Fusion. Ford could have brought us a modern Galaxy and chose not to. Image a 5.0/MT82 swapped Fusion!

Turning rust world problems into rust world solutions since 1978

So, lighter than the S4 too!  ;)

Given the rest of the car, it would still be FWD.  No space for a NS engine, nor a trans behind it.

The Taurus SHO was the ecoboost/AWD Ford sedan that weighed 4200+ lbs. Looks like the Fusion Sport was more like 3700lbs
